My background:

After leaving school, I gained my childcare qualification at college. My first position after qualifying was as a sole charge nanny of two girls, which I remained in until the younger sibling started school. Shortly after, I was employed as a childcare worker in a local authority day nursery in East London, where I worked for 22 years. This nursery was closed and merged with another nursery, where I stayed until redundancy in July 2016.

I am committed to a child-centred, play based approach in which children have the opportunity to learn through first hand, meaningful experiences that are planned with their interests and concerns in mind. I believe that children should be able to take calculated risks, in order that their learning is continually challenging and allows them to move forward in their learning and development.
